Panchakarma Therapy
What is Panchakarma?
Panchakarma is the cornerstone of Ayurvedic healing - a comprehensive detoxification and rejuvenation program that cleanses the body at the cellular level.
This ancient therapeutic system consists of five main procedures designed to eliminate toxins (ama) and restore balance to the doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha).
The Five Actions of Panchakarma
1. Vamana (Emesis Therapy)
Controlled vomiting therapy to eliminate excess Kapha dosha and toxins from the upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tract.
2. Virechana (Purgation Therapy)
Controlled purgation to eliminate excess Pitta dosha and toxins from the liver, gallbladder, and small intestine.
3. Basti (Enema Therapy)
Medicated enemas to balance Vata dosha and cleanse the colon, considered the most important of all Panchakarma procedures.
4. Nasya (Nasal Administration)
Administration of medicated substances through the nose to cleanse and treat disorders related to the head and neck.
5. Raktamokshana (Bloodletting)
Selective removal of impure blood to treat blood-related disorders and skin conditions. This procedure is used in specific cases under expert supervision.
